I fear we are seeing in the recent decision by the new owners of the Cook County News Herald, to discontinue the weekly column by Garry Gamble, a frightening surrender to the radical agenda of Cancel Culture, and another erosion of our 1st Amendment Right to Freedom of Speech. Garry Gamble has written compelling, truthful, diligently researched columns for the last seven years on a myriad of subjects, for which those of us who are wanting TRUTH, are very thankful. As with any written words, or televised programing, or for that matter, social media, we can close the book, change the channel, shut it off. That is OUR CHOICE!
There are those in our society that think that any message that is contrary to their own beliefs should be shut down, removed, and not allowed, even if it is the truth. That is not the American way. We do not believe in censoring opposing voices, and we are not a Cancel Culture country. Not yet anyway. That is tyrannical, Marxist/ Communist thinking, and not that of a FREE PEOPLE!
Do you believe in our 1st Amendment Right to Freedom of Speech, which men and women have died to protect? Are you willing to TAKE A STAND against this Cancel Culture that is shutting down opposing voices regarding issues that have great import in the life of each of us. That Cancel Culture is very evident in actions taken by social media, in our schools and universities, in business, in government, etc. It is time to STAND UP, SPEAK OUT against the deliberate destruction of our Constitution and Bill of Rights. TO STAND UP FOR FREEDOM!
