St. John’s Catholic Church in Grand Marais will be celebrating three very special anniversaries this year—the 100th anniversary of the founding of St. John’s Catholic Church in Grand Marais – 1911; the 75th anniversary of becoming a parish in its own right with its own pastors – 1936; and the 50th anniversary of the present church building on Broadway Avenue – 1961.
Volunteers are gathering newspaper articles, photos, slides, film, and memorabilia from these time periods for the celebration. If you have any items to contribute, please contact Dick Dorr – 387- 2346, Pat Hennessy – 387-2161 or Lori Hommerding – 387-1409. The items are needed by April 30 and the anniversary celebration will be held on June 25, 2011.
