SSI and VA members who don’t normally file taxes might still be able to get a refund

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced this week that people receiving Social Security I (SSI) and veterans (VA) benefits who don’t normally file a tax return (and those who have children) must act by the May 5 deadline to receive the full amount of their Economic Impact Payments automatically from the IRS.

That amounts to $1,200 for individuals and $500 per child that those individuals have under the age of 18.

If you need help with this matter, contact Chuck Flickinger. Chuck will be available by phone 218-475-2776 to work with those individuals who need assistance with electronically filing a ZEROTAXES OWED tax return so that you do not miss out on this benefit.

Chuck will be available from Noon-6 p.m. on Friday, May 1 through the weekend till the end of Tuesday, May 5.

Mr. Flickenger is a CCTAXES IRS volunteer who has done tax returns for free in Cook County since 2004.

You can verify this by contacting Diane Booth (218- 387-3015) at the Cook County Community Center in Grand Marais.
