Cook County Soil and Water Conservation District held a Spring into Conservation – Landowner Workshop, on Tuesday, February 19.
It was standing room only!
Participants were provided a map of their property, a folder of resources, and additional print materials they could choose from during the evening.
The first hour was spent learning about Natural Landscape Designs and the Conservation District services. Following this, attendees worked on a concept planning exercise using their property map, beginning to set a few goals to make a plan for their land. Resource specialists assisted participants with their questions.
When asked about takeaways from the workshop, example responses included, “Maps and planning documents were very helpful with suggested activities to give us ideas for our own situations” and “Great to get resources for future projects”.
Thank you to all who attended – the event was met with great enthusiasm! Thank you also to the following resource professionals: Diane Booth (Cook County Extension), Alisa Berns (Taproot Landscaping), Wayne Russ (North Shore Forest Collaborative), Mitch Lundeen (Clean Water Fund Regional Forester), Justin Pszwaro (The Nature Conservancy), and Mitch Travis (Cook County Land Services).
The workshop was funded in part by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) with Clean Water Land and Legacy Funds and by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) through the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
