Spring Fever at the Care Center

The residents were working hard last week filling eggs for the community Easter egg hunt held on March 31st. There were 2,902 eggs filled in all! This project is a community service that the residents participate in every year. It brings them a lot of satisfaction knowing they are helping make it a special day for the little ones.

Spring fever has arrived at North Shore Health Care Center, and the residents are looking forward to warmer weather and longer days of sunshine. We are anxious to get outdoors and start renovating our patio areas, now that the construction is done. As we wait for the rest of the snow to melt, there will be plenty of indoor activities to keep us busy.

The monthly birthday party will be held on Wednesday, April 11 at 3 p.m. to honor Trudy Boyd, Shirley Hewitt, and Mary Meyers. Cake and ice cream will be served along with piano classics by Doug Sanders.

Our “Babes and Bonnets” group this past winter was a huge success with the residents. They made unique hats that were given to babes and moms of the community at a social held on March 10. Because the residents had so much fun with the little tikes, we will be hosting them again on April 14.

April 15-21 marks National Volunteer Week – a time to recognize the efforts of volunteers at the local, state, and national levels. The residents and staff at the Care Center wish to thank our many dedicated volunteers for all the extraordinary things they do. They bring their many talents, time, and companionship to us all year long, and are a vital part of the Activity Department programming. There will be a volunteer appreciation brunch held in May to celebrate and honor our volunteers.

An outing is planned for April 26 to visit our friends at the Senior Center and enjoy a delicious lunch with them.

We have many music events planned for April. Myron Bursheim will be here most Sunday afternoons in April at 2:30 p.m. Harris Mills will be coming to the Care Center on April 9 and April 30 at 3 p.m., and Susan Scherer will be here on Wednesdays at 4:30 p.m. Pastor Daren Blanck and Joyce Krueger will host a gospel sing-along on Monday, April 16 at 2 p.m. Amy Schmidt and friends will play on April 24 at 2 p.m. A dance will be held with Portage Band on Saturday, April 28 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Family and friends are always welcome to join us for any of our musical events!
