The spirit of giving is always in season at the North Shore Care Center, thanks to the dedication and commitment of the many volunteers that regularly come to visit us. The residents count their blessings for family, staff, and community members who gave so much this past year. We especially want to thank the American Legion Honor Guard members who came into the Care Center on Veterans Day to honor our veterans with a special ceremony.
As the holiday season begins, the elders look forward to visitors of all ages during December. There will be a lot of intergenerational fun this month. On December 4, the Henneman children will be coming to the Care Center to enjoy a holiday story time with the residents. There will be Great Expectations School students coming to play bingo on December 17 as we celebrate Bingo’s 86th birthday. A music recital with Laura Laky’s piano students is also scheduled for December 18.
The Sivertones jazz ensemble will perform on Thursday, December 10 at 5:30 p.m. Additional music during the month will feature Myron Bursheim on Sundays, Irene Thompson on Mondays, Al Fuller on Tuesdays, and Susan Scherer on Wednesdays. There will also be carolers visiting throughout the holiday season.
’Tis the season for the residents to get busy baking their favorite holiday cookies for annual Christmas Eve party with families, friends, and of course Santa Claus!
The monthly birthday party will be held on Wednesday, December 9 to honor Victor Roderick and Erland Shold. Cake and ice cream will be served at 3 p.m. along with piano music by Doug Sanders.
The colder weather doesn’t keep us from venturing out in the community. Several residents will be attending the Community Christmas Concert at Bethlehem Church, and a holiday luncheon at the Senior Center is also planned for December 17.
The residents and staff at the North Shore Hospital and Care Center want to wish everyone a joyful Christmas and a Happy New Year!
