Spelling out definition of marriage strengthens families

Re: Holthaus and Hjorth letters

Jake, I am confused as to the point of your letter. If the point was that Jesus would be upset with what is happening in the country, I agree. But rewriting the Constitution makes as much sense as deciding that since people are still murdering, stealing, misusing power, etc., we should rewrite laws to make this more acceptable.

Sandy, this also applies to legal marriage. Over the years, in order to strengthen families, laws have been passed to give benefits to legally married couples. Since courts are now making rulings that go against the original meaning of the Constitution it is necessary to spell things out to avoid spreading access to these benefits, many funded by our tax dollars.

If someone wants to indulge in unnatural acts that is their business but when they want to force me to support those acts I object.

Vote “Yes” to keep the definition of marriage to be “one man and one woman,” otherwise think of the possible consequences. After all, I never thought it would become a question.

By the way, Social Security is now paying much of what used to be called “welfare,” so it is no longer a “trust” but extra taxation from the working people to those not able to work.
