Jim Southwick of Byron, MN, was inducted into the Concordia College (Moorhead) Athletic Hall of Fame on October 15, 2011.
Southwick played defensive line for Concordia Football from 1984-1987. He is Concordia’s all-time leader in assisted tackles (239), second in total tackles (356), and third in sacks (26.5). He was a three-time selection to the All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) First Team in 1985-1987. He earned Concordia’s Outstanding Freshman award, was a two-time MIAC Conference Defensive Player of the Week, and was captain and elected the team’s Most Valuable Player in 1987.
In 1986, he earned Associated Press Little All-American honors after Concordia completed a successful season with a record of 11-2, winning the MIAC Championship and two NCAA playoff victories before losing to eventual champion Augustana (Ill.) in the semifinal game.
Jim and his wife Jana (Stoskopf) reside in Byron, MN and have two children, Meghann and Zach.
