Soros vs. Koch brothers—who can you trust?

Gee, thanks Ann (March 26, 2011) for bringing Daryl “I’ve been pleasantly absent and hiding in the woods” Popkes out of the woodwork. Once again, Daryl is amusing us with his conservative psychobabble with the Koch Brothers and George Soros in one letter. Let’s see…who would be a more trusting and moral billionaire?

Just “Google” Soros and the Koch brothers. There is a plethora of information comparing the “deeds” of all of them.

Soros is a philanthropist who has spread his wealth far and wide: setting up foundations for black students in South Africa, giving $50 million to protect civilians during the Bosnian conflict, organizing the Open Society Institute to promote worldwide democracy and human rights for developing democracies, fighting African poverty issues and donating over $7 billion to pro-democracy and human rights causes throughout the world.

The Koch Brothers? Daddy Koch made his fortune in the ‘30s by building oil refineries for Joseph Stalin, accusing Eisenhower, Truman and Roosevelt of being communists, and founding the John Birch Society to “purify America.”

The Koch spawn inherited Daddy’s millions and David ran for President on the elimination of social security (enjoying social security yet, Daryl?), abolishment of minimum wage and corporate taxes (read “trickle down”). He lost handily.

The Koch Brothers founded Citizens for the Environment, which calls acid rain a myth, donates millions to climate change debunkers and funds an economist who argues that smog helps prevent skin cancer. The Kochs stole millions of dollars in oil from Native American land, were convicted and ordered to pay $25 million. Koch Industries has been found guilty of negligence in the deaths of two oil workers in Texas and is responsible for over 300 oil spills resulting in over $30 million+ dollars in fines.

They did found and continue to bankroll the Tea Party (it’s on film)!

You cannot make this stuff up, Daryl, but hey, we all know that oil is good for wildlife. It keeps their feathers all shiny and purdy.

The Koch Brothers are good for society, as they are bent on bringing working class Americans to their knees and creating a huge poverty class. How patriotic!

Lets see…who would I trust?

By the way, Daryl, the phrase “let’s call a spade a spade” is from a card game. I am curious why you think it is a racial slur?
