The Son’s Rays will be shining again on August 7 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. The Christian teen girls’ choir, led by Dode Stoskopf, was a major part of the fabric of Cook County for many years when Dode’s husband, Bob, was Bethlehem’s pastor. This year the group will celebrate its 40th anniversary.
The reunion concert, entitled In Pursuit of Peace, will take place at the 9:30 a.m. worship service the Sunday of Fisherman’s Picnic. On behalf of the choir, Dode is extending an invitation to all: “The Rays ask that you, our community of family and friends, come to join in with us.”
“I think it’s just fantastic,” Dode said to the News-Herald regarding the reunion. She anticipates the Rays being “filled with good memories of people who have grown up into being mothers and grandmothers.” The bonds are deep. “We are certainly connected after 40 years,” she said.
More details of the reunion concert will be published throughout the summer. Families of Son’s Rays members are asked to spread the word to those who may not have been contacted.
