The Grand Marais Public Library will host a songwriting workshop at 10:30 a.m. June 19.

Brian Laidlaw, poet and songwriter from San Francisco and currently a member of the Composition and Songwriting Faculty at McNally Smith College of Music in St. Paul, will lead the event. Laidlaw is also a frequent guest professor at the St. Paul School of Rock.

Attendees will get a chance to listen to Brian perform his own music as an introduction to the workshop and experience the excitement and challenge of developing a fledgling song idea into a fully formed song.

The program, sponsored by Arrowhead Library System, was funded in part or in whole with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
