Softball Team Falls to Moose Lake/Willow River

After several cancellations the Cook County fast pitch softball team got to play a game outdoors for the first time in 2022.

A red-hot start by the Moose Lake Willow River softball team in the first inning set the tone for the away game played at Moose Lake on Wednesday, April 27.

The Rebels put up 14 points in the first, adding three more in the second, three in the third and closed out the game with a 20-0 win.

The game was called after four innings because of the ten-run rule.

Moose Lake/Willow River started the first inning scoring on a walk by J. Bode, an error, a walk by H. Roach, a walk by M. Hattenberger, a walk by H. Kluu, an error, a double by S. Ribich, and triple by M. Kukuk.

Kallie Anderson took the loss for the Vikings on the mound. Kallie gave up six hits and twenty runs over three innings and struck out three.

At the plate, Kallie went 1-for-2 to lead the Vikings in hitting.

The Vikings committed four fielding errors and gave up 14 walks in the game.

Moose Lake/Willow River pitchers struck out nine and gave up two walks.

Ribich led the Warriors with two hits in three at-bats.
