Nevin, how thoughtful of you to review the upcoming Social Justice Conference, and setting us to the dangers of thinking and discussing issues relative to a successful community. I appreciate the alarm over topics with which you disagree and your flawed interpretation, but seriously, most of the individuals that attend these conferences are fully capable of making their own decisions.
If you feel threatened by a group of people talking about things you don’t want to hear, don’t attend, but don’t denigrate them for their civic mindedness, or attend and learn new stuff. BTW, social justice is distributed just as Wikipedia stated and is a legitimate topic, and does point to social policies to help balance the inequities that seem to plague us.
Your summary of the curriculum points out why we need and benefit from such opportunities; we live in a political world, being prepared to face this world demands we not hide from the politics, but to confront them directly, maybe we could avoid the disasters we have experienced so far in the exceedingly inept and corrupt Trump administration.
