It turns out the 18-inch December 6 snowfall at Golden Eagle Lodge, as reported by the National Weather Service, wasn’t the most snow that fell that day in the county. Gary J. Maciejewski, Lutsen, said, “At Tait Lake, we received 21.2” of snowfall which would appear to be the record snowfall for Cook County. That snowfall figure is accurate because I am a volunteer for the Minnesota Climatological Network, and I use the proper cylinder to measure any snowfall. I am sorry that I didn’t send this report in sooner, but I did want to correct the record about the highest recent snowfall in Cook County,” said Maciejewski.
