Connor Smith, 15, had a great day of racing at Echo Valley Moto Park in Brookston, MN on Saturday, June 13.
Connor was in first place for most of his first motocross race, until he took a spill on the last corner of the last lap. He ended the race in a respectable fourth place. In the second motocross race, he stayed in fourth place for several laps, but worked his way up to a second place finish. The combined races earned him an overall trophy for second place.
His brother, Devin Smith, 17, also did really well at Brookston, finishing in 16th place in the first moto and seventh in the second, finishing at around 10-12th place overall. There was some confusion regarding his number and another racer’s, so his final standing is not confirmed.
Like many other sports, there are expenses involved in racing—entry fees, parts, and transportation. Connor was sponsored in the June 13 race by the Cook County ATV Club.
Connor would like to continue racing at tracks in Mazeppa, Staples, Millville, Little Falls, Elko, Mora, Mankato, Kellogg, Cambridge, Grantsburg and Glydon. Connor is the son of Tony and Missy Smith of Grand Marais.
