The weekend of June 29-30 brings an eclectic mix of music to the big tent at Grand Portage Lodge and Casino. The lineup includes a Thunder Bay favorite The Hoolies; a Kiss tribute band Kiss Army; disco dance band Boogie Wonderland; a Led Zeppelin tribute band Zep Show and finally the headliner Smash Mouth.
Clear your schedule to celebrate two days of the very best of ’70s, ’80s and ’90s rock at Grand Portage Lodge & Casino’s 2nd annual Retro Rock Revue Festival, Friday, June 29 and Saturday, June 30.
On June 29, rock out under the big tent on Lake Superior’s shore with Thunder Bay’s The Hoolies, playing classic rock from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and followed at 9 p.m. by Kiss tribute Kiss Army. With identical makeup, outrageous outfits, classic instruments and topnotch musicianship, Kiss Army rules.
On Saturday, June 30, get down to the smooth sounds of Boogie Wonderland, Minnesota’s number one ’70s disco dance band at 2 p.m. Then, turn up the rock with Led Zeppelin tribute, the Zep Show, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. when headliners Smash Mouth take to the stage with their very own brand of ’60s-influenced garage band pop.
Since being formed in 1994, Smash Mouth has sold more than 10 million albums worldwide. Along with their number one hits—Walkin’ on the Sun and All Star—they have consistently impacted radio with other recognizable hits like Then the Morning Comes, Can’t Get Enough Of You Baby, and a cover of The Monkees classic I’m a Believer, which was prominently featured on the Shrek soundtrack. Having long since established itself as the ultimate true-to-life California party-band, the vibe surrounding Smash Mouth is indeed—at its core—about having fun.
Famous Dave’s Legendary Pit Bar-B-Q will also be on hand all weekend.
