According to organizers, the Small Footprint Living Fair is not just for people wanting to make drastic changes. It’s also for people who are curious about how to go about stepping in a green direction and those interested in learning about what others are doing to green their lives, their homes and their businesses.
The mission of the fair is “to inspire, encourage and support sustainable living and community lifestyles in Northeastern Minnesota.” It is being offered in direct response to the voiced needs of the community, including local food production and the move to sustainable practices.
Fair events include classes, a film festival, hands-on projects and tours, a book fair, and an exhibitor and craft fair. All events and workshops are either free or offered at a small fee because, as Fair organizer Diane Booth says, “It isn’t about making money.” Rather, the fair is an opportunity to learn and connect on local issues in an affordable and accessible way.
Thefair is scheduled for June 12-13 at the Community Center. Registration is going on now, and all community members
are encouraged to register for the events of their choice. Simply fill out the registration form in one of the many Small Footprint Living Fair brochures around town and submit it to Diane Booth at the community center. More information is available at 387- 3015 or online at co.cook.mn.us.
