Skraba takes the oath of office

Former Ely Mayor Roger Skraba had a hectic first week in his new job as a Minnesota House of Representatives member, where he represents District 3A.

Skraba, a Republican who defeated DFL incumbent Rob Ecklund by 15 votes, was sworn in on January 3, 2023, for a two-year term that ends January 7, 2025.

Skraba and 133 other state representatives took the oath of office during a ceremony at the State Capitol in St. Paul.

“It is an honor to serve you, your family, and the communities of Northern Minnesota in the state legislature,” Skraba said. “I look forward to getting to work on the issues and priorities that matter most to you. This includes responsible government budgeting, standing for liberty and freedom, and pushing to return the state’s historic $17.5 billion budget surplus back to you through permanent tax relief.”

Most of Rep. Skraba’s work during the first months of the session will take place in House committees. For the 2023-2024 legislative biennium, Skraba has been assigned to the Capital Investment Committee, the Environment and Natural Resources Finance and Policy Committee, and the Legacy Finance Committee.

Skraba encourages area residents to contact him if they have any legislative questions, concerns, or ideas. He can be reached by phone at 651-296-2190. He can also be contacted via email at rep. roger.skraba@house.mn.gov or via U.S. Mail at 221 State Office Building, St. Paul, MN, 55155.
