Skill and professionalism of emergency responders appreciated

I would like to express my sincere thanks to the members of the Cook County Sheriff ’s Department, Cook County Search and Rescue, Cook County Ambulance, Tofte Rescue Squad, Tofte, Schroeder and Lutsen Volunteer Fire Departments, Sawtooth Mountain Clinic and the Duluth and Thunder Bay Coast Guard Squadrons for the assistance they provided during the sad events of December 23, when two of our guests drowned in Lake Superior.

Many members of these organizations put forth their very best efforts that day to save these two men’s lives, though the cold water temperature and rough seas ultimately made live rescue impossible.

As I watched the events of that afternoon unfold with horror and sadness, I could not help but appreciate the sheer number of volunteers and professionals who arrived on the scene so quickly, as well as the skill and professionalism with which they worked.

We are so very fortunate that all of these people, volunteers and professionals alike, are available to us in times of need despite the relative remoteness of our location. Thanks to all of you from the homeowners, staff and management of Bluefin Bay Resort.
