A 70-year-old St. Paul man has died while skiing at Lutsen Mountains Ski Resort.
Cook County Law Enforcement received a 911 call requesting assistance at 12:32 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19 because a skier had been found down and unresponsive.
The skier was identified as David Michael Skog, age 70, of St. Paul. He was found unresponsive and bleeding from the face just below the Moose Mountain chalet.
The Lutsen Mountain Ski Patrol arrived on scene and began life saving measures with the assistance of bystanders. Skog was transported to the Ski Patrol building where life saving measures continued. At 1:15 pm, Skog was pronounced deceased by paramedics from the Cook County Ambulance.
The next of kin and family have been notified. It is unknown what caused the death and an autopsy will be performed by the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office.
Agencies responding to this incident were the Cook County Sheriff ’s Office, Lutsen Ski Patrol, Lutsen First Responders, Cook County Ambulance, US Forest Service, and Cook County Search and Rescue.
