A single vehicle crash in Lutsen sent a Grand Marais man to the hospital on August 9.
Terry Halvorson, 39, was driving east in a 2001 Kia Rio on Highway 61 in Lutsen at about 11:48 a.m. on August 9. Near 5175 West Highway 61, his vehicle drifted across the west lane, over a gravel driveway and into the ditch. According to Cook County Law Enforcement, the ditch was very steep and the vehicle went airborne, hitting the front and rolling. The vehicle came out of the ditch and ended up on its tires on the shoulder of the west bound lane.
Lutsen Fire Department and First Responders and Cook County Ambulance were paged. Halvorson was transported to North Shore Health in Grand Marais. He was transferred to St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth.
No citations have been issued as this crash is under investigation as drug paraphernalia was found in the vehicle.
