This letter to the editor is a letter of praise to the people, business owners and most importantly health care workers in Cook County Minnesota. These past months will not soon be forgotten in our country and our county. Like the rest of the nation, Cook County learned and responded to the threat of COVID-19, with social distancing, mask wearing, and keeping numbers at a safe limit in our stores and restaurants.
Cook County businesses and it’s people took it to a higher level, even with the record turnout of tourists who poured into our town. There were long lines and throngs of visitors. Through it all, Cook County’s COVID-19 case numbers remained some of the lowest In our state.
In this past week, the long awaited vaccinations have begun in our town. I have never been happier to receive a shot. Health care workers, volunteers and those that planned the Vaccine Center could not have done a more perfect job of organizing, providing respectful care and comfort to all of the patients they administered the vaccine to. They did it in an amazing show of efficiency and professionalism. I am so proud of this community, this county and it’s people.
This community, this county and its people! Thank you; thank you to all who have contributed to the challenges and health of our community during these difficult times.
Sue Riley, Grand Marais
