Sign up now for the Third Annual College and Job Fair

In an effort to help Cook County employers find workers for the busy summer season, the Chamber has joined with Cook County Schools and the Grand Portage Lodge and Casino in sponsoring the Third Annual College and Job Fair on March 23.

This will be an event with a double focus: In the early afternoon, students from Cook County Schools will attend. Cook County Schools has two goals for this: to acquaint older students with both college and summer job opportunities, and to impress on students that there are a number of career paths available to them locally if they wish to spend their adult years here.

Those who sign up will have an opportunity in the early afternoon to talk with high-school students who might be potential summer workers, then later in the afternoon, with adult job seekers.

The event is being held in late March to catch winter workers, particularly at Lutsen Mountains, who might wish to line up a summer job so they can remain in Cook County for at least the summer and perhaps longer.

The job fair will also be advertised on the Iron Range and in the Duluth- Superior labor market.

“This is an experimental event for the Chamber. We want to see if a local job fair can attract significant numbers of employers and potential employees,” said Cook County Chamber of Commerce Director Jim Boyd.

To sign up, call or email Kris Hoffman at Cook County Schools by March 2. His email address is khoffman@isd166.org; his phone number is (218) 387-2271 ext. 404.
