The Grand Marais Playhouse is very proud to present two fabulous shows to our community!
Shrek the Musical opens the Grand Marais Theater Festival on July 19 at 7 p.m. It is a Tony Award-winning fairy tale adventure based on the 2001 DreamWorks Animation’s film Shrek and William Steig’s 1990 book Shrek.
The second production in the repertory is Mom’s Gift by Phil Olson, which opens Friday, July 20 at 7 p.m.
These two shows will run in repertory for four weekends until Aug. 12. The shows alternate daily Thursdays through Sundays. Thursday through Saturday performances are at 7 p.m., and Sundays are at 2 p.m. (except for Aug. 5, 3 p.m.)
A complete schedule is available at grandmaraisplayhouse.com or on posters around town. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for students. Advance tickets are available at the Playhouse website. If you buy a ticket the first Friday to each production, you will receive a $5 discount at checkout.
More than 50 people have been singing, dancing, laughing, memorizing, sewing, building, painting, and more to bring these shows to the stage.

The cast of Mom’s Gift is Aliya Marxen, Jan Healy, Gary Latz, Sarah Waddle, Diane Stoddard, and Kevin Kager.
Shrek The Musical performances will be July 19, 21, 27, 29, Aug. 2, 4, 10, 12.
Comedy performances will be July 20, 22, 26, 28, Aug. 3, 5, 9, 11.
Minnesota’s favorite bluegrass band Monroe Crossing returns to Grand Marais Labor Day weekend. The concert beings at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 1 at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts. Tickets are on sale now at grandmaraisplayhouse.com. Tickets are $25 adults and $15 for under 18.
Monroe Crossing dazzles audiences with an electrifying blend of classic bluegrass, bluegrass gospel, and heartfelt originals. Their airtight harmonies, razor sharp arrangements, and on-stage rapport make them audience favorites across the United States and Canada.
