Sheriff’s Office squad car damaged in collision




A Cook County Sheriff ’s Office squad car was sideswiped at 5:25 p.m. on Friday, August 24 on the Gunflint Trail near the Cook County Law Enforcement Center in Grand Marais.

The 2008 Chevrolet Impala police squad car was driven by Deputy Chuck Anderson, who was seen at Cook County North Shore Hospital for neck pain.

The squad car was struck by a 2010 Subaru Outback driven by Warren Anderson, 80, Grand Marais.

The sheriff ’s department vehicle had an estimated $6,000 in damages. At press time it was not known if the vehicle would be totaled or not. Anderson’s vehicle suffered “moderate” damage to the front end.

According to Minnesota State Patrol spokesman Curt Mowers, the accident is under investigation and charges are pending.
