Sheriff Lyght never hit a deer

My good friend John Lyght, father of Barbara Lyght Seaburg and grandfather of Courtney Horgan, was the Sheriff of Cook County when I was County Attorney. John was a local, and he always bragged about never ever hitting a deer. One day, I heard that his squad car was in the shop due to an “interaction” with a deer.

I told John, “I guess you can stop bragging about never hitting a deer!”

John said, “What do you mean?”

I said, “I heard you hit a deer.”

John replied, “Don, I didn’t hit that deer. The deer hit me!”
