The National Honor Society welcomed six new members at its April 23 induction—juniors Kyle Martinson, Ben Seaton, and Rachel Wieben and sophomores Megan Lehto, Anna Carman, and Audrey Summers.

Each spring NHS membership is extended to outstanding students who have shown exceptional accomplishments in the areas of scholarship, leadership, character, and service. The National Honor Society was founded in 1921. In Cook County NHS records go back more than 50 years.

Instead of having an outside speaker, NHS seniors spoke with admiration and humor about each other. Then Advisor Ivy Church presented graduation stoles to the seniors, naming an outstanding trait of each. In honor of April 23 being Shakespeare’s birthday, Church also selected a quotation from Shakespeare that fit each NHS senior.

Also continuing as NHS members are CCHS juniors Sterling Anderson, Colin Everson, Sarissa Falk, Sarah Larsen, Mara MacDonnell, and Katie Vander Heiden.
