Four Viking football players were named to the All-District First Team, and three to the Second Team.
First-team selections were Junior Kole Anderson, Sophomore Ray Dressely, Junior Ryan Christensen, Junior Paul Dorr.
Second-team selections were Senior Jacob Dorr, Sophomore Ryan Smith, Sophomore Calvin Battees.
All of the Vikings play on both sides of the ball. Kole Anderson was a hard-hitting linebacker and on offense played fullback. Ray Dressley was the team’s top running back and sure tackling linebacker.
Ryan Christiansen was a big play running back/wide receiver and on defense played linebacker. Paul Dorr was the quarterback, fast on his feet and a great arm, and a good cover at the safety position.
Earning Second Team honors, senior Jacob Dorr, a team leader, played tight end and defensive end. Ryan Smith was a great offensive lineman, blocker, pass defender, and a solid defensive tackle.
Calvin Battee played defensive tackle and offensive lineman, a great blocker and strong rusher/ tackler.
The Vikings ended their football season with a 6-3 record, an excellent mark for a team that had just one senior on it. Area coaches who vote on all-conference selections noted the skilled play with their choices.
The Vikings season ended with a 48-12 loss to Mountain Iron-Buhl in the section tournament. Mountain Iron-Buhl defeated Cherry to take the section title and plays 11-0 Fertile-Beltrami on November 11 in the nine-man state tournament.
