Set sail on the Hjordis

The sight of the burgundy sails of North House Folk School’s Hjordis
is a welcome sign of summer for North Shore residents. It is a treat to see the big ship sailing in the harbor from any vantage point—at the east or west breakwalls, on the cobblestone beach or while enjoying a cup of coffee at Java Moose or lunch at Angry Trout. However, nothing can beat the thrill of boarding the vessel for an adventure.

During the Wooden Boat Show, North House is offering Lake Superior sailing aboard the 50-foot Hjordis.
Set sail on Saturday, June 19 at 9:00, 10:00, 11:00 a.m.; noon; 1:00, 2:00, 3:00 or 4:00 p.m. Enjoy a one-hour sail in the Grand Marais harbor. Raise and set the sails. See the Sawtooth Mountain ridge from a different perspective.

Reservations are required and there is maximum of six participants $25 per person.

On Sunday, June 20, North House is offering a Lake Superior schooner adventure, two-hour sail aboard the Hjordis.
Sailors will also learn a bit about the ecology, geology, and history of the largest freshwater lake in the world. The adventure also requires reservations and there is a maximum of six participants. The adventure sets sail at 9:00, 11:00 a.m.; 1:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. $45 for adults, $35 for kids.
