Separate personal problems from official duties

Hyperventilated hysteria seems to be creeping in as a handful of bloviating self-righteous individuals demand the removal of our county attorney. “His behavior …….tainted the beauty of your town” is simply pompous blathering by someone who doesn’t even live here, and one who has apparently never experienced our local compassion.

But Annie Hess should know better, she claims that her “feelings have nothing (her italics) to do with revenge” and then continues writing a missive full of vengeance.

Get over it. Tim Scannell is an elected official and may not be removed from office except for malfeasance: “Grounds for recall are malfeasance or nonfeasance in the performance of official duties during the current or any previous term.”

A restraining order does not rise to that level, in fact, Tim’s performance of duty has been exceptional and his taking three bullets in the performance of justice certainly goes beyond the expectations of a public official.

I voted for Tim in the last election, I want him to remain in that office, and if he runs again (I hope) I will vote for him again. Those who do not want him in office can simply vote against him next time, but for now they should grow up and separate personal problems from official duties.

If we applied the standards these detractors so mightily profess, no one could or would run for public office: “To err is human, to forgive divine” wrote Alexander Pope, and only humans can run for office.
