Senior Legion baseball team loses close game to Aurora



Jake Stadler pitched a good game, but it wasn’t enough as Aurora slipped by the Cook County Silver Bay Senior Legion team 3-1.

Aurora scored one run in the first inning one in the third and one in the fifth to take a 3-1 victory of the Cook County/Silver Bat Senior. Legion baseball team in the first round of playoffs. The game was played Saturday, July 16 at 11 a.m. in Aurora.

Both teams finished with four hits and one error in a well-played game.

Stadler took the loss for the Vikings. Jake pitched six innings. He gave up four hits and three runs while striking out six.

Sickle was the winning pitcher. The aurora fireballer threw five innings, allowing one run off of two hits. He struck out one and walked one batter.

Hunter Gomez collected half of the Vikings hits. The third baseman was two for three at the plate. Amos Falter had one hit and one RBI. Jake Stadler had the other hit for the team.

The loss sent the Vikings into the losers bracket. Any loss from here on out will end the team’s playoff run.
