The Cook County/Silver Bay Senior Legion baseball team has played a lot of baseball over the last few weeks, taking their share of wins and losses over that period. On July 15, following a stellar win over Aurora, the Vikings second game was played against Ely, and the results weren’t as good with the Vikings falling 7-1.
Through three innings the score was tied 0-0 as both pitchers dominated hitters. The Vikings Jake Stadler and D. Marolt from Ely, kept hitters at bay. However, Ely erupted for six runs in the fourth, added a run in the fifth and the Vikings were only able to counter with one run in the sixth to lose 7-1.
Over five innings Viking’s starter on the mound, Jake Stadler, gave up eight hits, seven runs while asking three and striking out nine.
Ely’s pitcher Marolt held the Vikings to four hits, three walks and struck out nine.
J. Shannon, Amos Falter, Hunter Gomez and Jacob Carpenter each had one hit for the Vikings.
The Vikings had four errors to one for Ely.
