It was a busy two days for State Senator Tom Bakk, Representative Rob Ecklund and Steve Peterson, the development director for the Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board (IRRRB).
The trio met with representatives from the county, city, local business owners, education and hospital officials on Tuesday and Wednesday this past week.
Tours were taken of the county’s new arrival/departure building at the airport, which was funded in part by an IRRRB grant; the newly re-built hospital and care center which also received significant funds from the IRRRB; as well as the new maintenance building and cold storage building built by the city of Grand Marais.
Updates were provided about the Gitchi- Gami trail in Lutsen, the Superior National golf course, the Lutsen water line, the proposed Highway 61 reconstruction project scheduled for 2019 that will run through Grand Marais, the current workforce housing being built by One Roof Housing in Grand Marais, and the proposed assisted living facility that will be built by Spectrum Health in Grand Marais in the next year.
