Semi runs off road south of Schroeder





A semi-trailer left the roadway near Highway 61 milepost 70 on Wednesday, May 11. The truck ended up on its side on the upper side of the highway.

A semi-trailer left the roadway near Highway 61 milepost 70 on Wednesday, May 11. The truck ended up on its side on the upper side of the highway.

A semi-trailer driven by Ross Townson, 66, of Maxwell, Ontario left Highway 61 and ended up on its side in the ditch on Wednesday, May 11. The 2007 diesel truck was traveling southbound when it ran off the road south of Schroeder in Lake County.

Townson told Minnesota State Patrol that he veered to avoid a deer and ran off the road.

According to the State Patrol, Townson was transported to Lakeview Hospital in Two Harbors, where he was treated for minor injuries.

However, State Patrol said the damage to the truck was severe. Traffic was delayed while Lake City Towing removed the truck from the ditch.
