Semi destroyed by fire in Schroeder

The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating what caused this vehicle fire in Schroeder on July 18. The 2000 Freightliner was destroyed, but no one was injured.

Tofte and Schroeder fire departments were paged at 1:23 p.m. on July 18 to respond to a smoldering semi truck near 7810 West Highway 61 in Schroeder. The reporting party said the vehicle was smoking and going to start on fire, which it did, destroying the cab of the truck.

The truck was a 2000 Freightliner Lakeshore Ice Company truck, driven by Michael Paszak, 61, of Duluth.

The Minnesota State Patrol, Tofte First Responders and Cook County Ambulance also responded to the scene, but there was no medical transport.

The Schroeder Fire Department reported that the fire was out at 1:54 p.m.
