I agree 100 percent with Tod Sylvester concerning Superior National Golf Course. Sell it! The tone of, and the presentation to, the Cook County commissioners reported in the June 26 issue of the News-Herald
titled Superior
National advocates appeal to county board
could lead a citizen to believe a major asset of the county is in jeopardy.
Would Superior National be any more or less an asset to this county if sold? I say, more. Leagues will still play, seniors will still play, decades of mismanagement won’t play! Sell it!
Look at the presenters or “advocates” at the commissioners’ meeting: Realtors and resort owners, past and present, barfing out statistics, innuendo and half-truths. All hanging on tenaciously to the goose that lays the golden egg for them while costing the majority a fortune over several decades.
Innuendo? Seniors, leagues and canoeists will play that course irrespective of its ownership. Half-truths? The DECC in Duluth is not leased out to a nonprofit management corporation, and I would love to see a list of ski areas leased out to nonprofit management corporations by the federal government. Sell it!
Thatgolf course will be a tough sell, you won’t get its true value or close to what it has already cost, but at the very least the bleeding will have stopped. Sell it!
Why don’t all you “advocates” get together and sell it for us common folk. Thank you for your consideration.
