Happy Halloween… already! I haven’t given up the sandals yet, any day now I will not have a choice. We are being blessed with the sunshine and beautiful sunrises over the lake. Enjoy these treasures while we can!
The last CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) was picked up October 1st at the farm in Finland.
Veggies galore, thank you to Round River Farm for the wonderful supply of glorious vegetables provided this season. Many people on the West End were quite pleased with the great selections they were offered on a weekly basis.
With fall here and winter upon us, the need for indoor exercise is going to become more important.
We have available in community room #2 the machines and equipment you need to keep yourself moving. The workout DVDs are available also to stimulate you into action. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. we offer group exercise for seniors. On Tuesday Zumba will be available in the gym from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., with the exception of the second Tuesday of the month, which is 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
The Nail/Foot Care Clinic will continue through the winter. This service, which is sponsored by Sawtooth Mountain Clinic, will be available the third Wednesday of the month. You must call by 4 p.m. Tuesday to schedule an appointment for Wednesday. The appointments begin at 12:30 p.m. Bring a foot basin, towel, and $10.

Caregiver Coffee is meeting the second Friday of each month from 10 to 11:30 a.m. This is an informal talk and information session for those in the position of being a caregiver. It helps to get together with others to share your feelings and knowledge.
The Craft ‘n’ Stamp group is meeting once per month on Thursday. Please call Lavona Czaplicki at 218-370-0634 for the current schedule. The beautiful cards and gift boxes they make are amazing. This is the perfect time of year to create unique handcrafted items for the holidays.
Senior Lunch is every Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Come in and enjoy a great home-cooked meal. See the menu posted on Boreal Community Calendar Wednesday morning or call Brenda at 663-7977. We have been serving 22 to 32 meals each week. If you are not a regular yet…please call in advance, so enough food is available. See you at lunch!
A Self Defense, Senior Fraud and Home Safety Presentation with Cook County Sheriff Pat Eliasen will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 12:30 p.m. This presentation is being given to assist you and your family in obtaining the knowledge you need to protect yourselves from the ever-growing problem of personal safety.
