Four new members are being sought to serve on the Second Harvest Board of Directors.
“We’re conducting a more public facing board recruitment strategy to broaden our diversity and increase the size of our 11-member board of directors,” said Director Shaye Moris, Second Harvest.
“As an organization serving eight counties in northeastern Minnesota (St. Louis, Carlton, Lake and Cook counties) and northwestern Wisconsin (Douglas, Bayfield, Ashland and Iron counties), we’re hoping to recruit up to four (4) new board members who will more fully represent our service region and broaden our geographic, age and ethnic diversity,” Moris stated.
In particular, candidates are being sought from north St. Louis, Lake, Cook, Ashland, and Iron counties. Individuals of color, Native and indigenous people, historically underrepresented minorities, and individuals age 40 and younger are encouraged to apply.
Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank, like many non-profit organizations is governed by a board of directors who focus on visionary and high-level strategy work, leaving operations to organization and staff. As a hunger-relief organization, they also look for board candidates who have a passion for their mission.
Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank’s board meets seven times per year with an option for members to join virtually or in-person.
Interested candidates should complete Second Harvests’ brief questionnaire which can be found on their website at northernlakes foodbank.org/who-weare/ staff-and-board/.
