I want to thank all the businesses and individuals who contributed to and supported our efforts to promote Vote Yes for an operating levy for ISD 166. At Fisherman’s Picnic, parents, teachers, staff and community members passed out information on the referendum, talked with interested people, marched in the parade and contributed money to be able to hand out brochures, buttons, pens and lawn signs. It was a great effort and a great time.
As a parent of a child in Cook County High School and a transplant to this community, I am impressed with the amount of pride in Cook County schools. The class reunions and floats at Fisherman’s Picnic show the strong connection between past graduates and our community. At the levy booth, graduates stopped by and were eager to tell us what they have been doing since they graduated and how much they appreciated their schooling at Cook County. We even heard from a family with four generations of Cook County graduates! Amazing.
If you are wondering about the referendum, how much is being requested and why, there is plenty of information available. Check our website at www.fundingourfuture.org or our Facebook page at https:// www.facebook.com/groups/ ISD166FISHPICPARADE/.
Walking in the parade, I loved seeing all the thumbs up when the Vote Yes group walked by. We are Funding our Future. We hope to keep that school and community pride going.
