School board accepts some resignations

At the school board’s April 20 meeting, Andrea Hofeldt announced by letter that she would not be returning from her maternity leave.

“As of June 2, 2017 I will be resigning my position as a physical education teacher at Cook County I.S.D. 166. I am sad to leave such an excellent school, but I have decided to stay home with my children for the first few years of their lives.”

Hofeldt added, “I am very grateful for my three years with the middle and high school and will certainly consider working here again, depending upon your needs, when I come back into the workforce.”

The school board accepted the resignation of Larry Dean as a school bus driver. Dean served the school district for 20 years as a special education teacher, para and bus driver.

Evan Morris, high school special education teacher, announced his last day at school would be June 5. Evan accepted a special education teaching position in Byron Public Schools, which is where he grew up and graduated from.

“I truly believe that the administration and staff in place here at Cook County Independent Schools is the best for the students and for the future of this school district,” wrote Morris, adding that he would “highly recommend to any teacher looking for a job to apply and work here at Cook County Independent Schools knowing that they would get treated with just as much respect as I did.”

The board also approved the hire of a middle school math teacher and band/music teacher for the next school year.
