On June 9, 2013, Kieran Scannell graduated cum laude, with highest honors, from Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, New Hampshire. Kieran attended Sawtooth Elementary and Cook County High School from second through 10th grade, and then went to Exeter for his junior and senior years.

At Exeter Kieran received the American History Book Award in his junior year and the Spanish 3 Book Award in his senior year.

Kieran ran cross country and track and was awarded most valuable member of the cross country team both years. During his senior year he was a co-captain and led his cross country team to win the Interschols competition both as an individual and as a team.

He also was a proctor in his dorm senior year and played drums in the stage band.

Kieran is attending Williams College in Williamstown, MA starting this fall, where he will continue to run on their cross country and track teams.

Kieran would like to thank all of the people who supported and taught him while in Cook County, and particularly Chris Hegg, Mark Summers, and Cory Berg for all of their support and inspiration in his running, skiing, and general life skills training.

Kieran is the son of Lynn Swanson and Tim Scannell and the brother of Lars Scannell of Grand Marais.
