Grocery shopping can be tiring and overwhelming, especially if you’re trying to make changes to your usual routine. Learning new information about nutrition and then trying to figure out what to actually buy is difficult. What if you could have someone with you, explaining things and helping you to find ways to incorporate these improvements into your life – in ways that feel doable?
A guided grocery tour can be part of the answer. Hartley Newell- Acero, Sawtooth Mountain Clinic’s Outreach coordinator and a Mayo Clinic trained Wellness Coach, will be leading tours at all three grocery stores in Grand Marais. Discussions will include buying produce that is in-season and on-budget, how to compare prices to find bargains, deciphering food labels, spotting hidden sugar and salt, finding whole grains, and ways to save money. The tours at Johnson’s Foods will be on December 10; the tours at Cook County Whole Foods Co-op will be on December 11, and the tours at Gene’s Foods will be on December 12. There will be two tours scheduled at each location: the first at 10 a.m. and the second at 2 p.m. The first 24 people to register will receive a $10 produce voucher. To save your spot on a tour, email hartley@sawtoothmountainclinic.org or call 218-387-2330. Spaces and vouchers are limited, so sign up today!
