Sad to see pharmacist and family go

I was saddened to read Lesli Higgins’ letter in last week’s paper regarding the leaving of Derek and Nikki Engelhaupt and family.

I can’t count the number of times that Nikki made the medicines I take for my migraines more affordable. Nikki went above and beyond to help me. Without her doing so, I would not have been able to get the medicines that help control my migraines.

Derek, her husband, on countless occasions went above to help my family and me when times were tough.

I don’t know how many business owners look at the person and think of them first and money last. It’s sad to think that we have become more worried about how much money we can make, the well-being of the person second.

I know of a few businesses that think of only the money. The customer is an afterthought, if even that. At some point along the way money has become the main factor in life.

Granted money is what makes the world go around and it is how you live and support your family, but has money become so important that we over look the well-being of our fellow neighbors just to make an extra buck?

I want to thank Nikki and Derek for their kindness, help, and overall caring of my family and myself. I wish that others could take the same approach to life. Sometimes you have to think of others and not what it’s going to do for you in the long run. I wish them the best of luck wherever they end up. I hope they know that some are grateful for their hard work and kindness to others.
