Ruby’s Pantry post first price hike in more than eight years

Ruby’s Pantry in Cook County is just one of over 90 sites served by Ruby’s Heart Ministries in Long Branch, Minnesota. That organization has constantly been working to manage costs wherever possible, yet because of many factors, including higher fuel, equipment and transportation costs, after 8+ years Ruby’s Pantry needed to announce a two dollar per bundle increase. As of November 1, the requested donation will increase to $22.00 per bundle at all Ruby’s Pantry locations.

In Cook County, we have always said that Ruby’s Pantry is for anyone who eats, and if you cannot manage the full suggested donation, just contribute what you can. If you can’t contribute anything, you don’t need to worry. We have received many generous donations to cover the costs our local pantry sends to Ruby’s Heart.

Since we need to continue a drive thru pantry in the winter months, making change would be difficult, if not painful for our volunteers. Therefore, we will not have a supply of $1 bills to make change. So please bring the exact $22 if you can. If you have less, that’s fine. If you have more, we will make good use of your extra donation.

If you have any questions, please send an email to rubys@boreal.org.
