Because of the high school remodeling project Ruby’s Pantry has moved.
The new location for the months of June and July will be the Cook County Community Center.
Ruby’s Pantry is a surplus food distribution program open to all. It helps if everyone of every economic level comes because it is not a program that is only for low income.
“We are helping use food that otherwise would go to waste,” Beth Kennedy said. Volunteers start at 3:15 p.m. to help set up on the second Tuesday of every month. No one who helps out is paid. “We really need your help to make this program happen,” said Kennedy. “It takes over 60 volunteers to unpack food and distribute it onto tables, etc.”
For those who want to go to Ruby’s Pantry, food pick-up is from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. $20 cash buys you lots of food; bring a cardboard box or freezer bag or laundry basket to carry your food.
Come to Cook County Community Center and look for signs of where to park.
