Roof top walker arrested on warrant

People in local businesses and in Harbor Park in downtown Grand Marais were concerned when they saw a young man on the top of a building on Wisconsin Street on Tuesday, September 6. Passersby watched nervously until Cook County Sheriff Deputies and a Minnesota State Trooper arrived and managed to get the man back on the ground.

Cook County Law Enforcement received the first call at 12:25 p.m. requesting a welfare check on an individual on top of the building next to the GunFlint Tavern.

The man walking around at the building’s edge was Zachary Morsette, 21, of Silver Bay. When deputies talked to him, Morsette said he wasn’t suicidal, he just wanted a better view of the lake.

Law Enforcement found that he had an outstanding warrant for arrest in Lake County. He was taken into custody for that as well as for 5th degree possession. He was taken to North Shore Health for medical evaluation.
