Roger W. “Bill” McKeever


 

 

Roger W. “Bill” McKeever, 80, of Schroeder, died Monday, February 14, 2022, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth.

Bill was born to Roger C. and Marion (Micklesen) in Two Harbors and grew up on the North Shore, graduating from Grand Marais High School in 1959. Bill was employed as a millwright at North Shore Mining from 1959 until 1986. He also owned and operated McKeever Well Drilling since 1962 and together with his wife Marion, operated Satellite’s County Inn and Cabins from 1980 until the present day.

Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, well drilling, and visiting with people.

He was instrumental in reorganizing the township of Schroeder in 1972 and served on and off the board until 2015. In 1990, Bill was asked to serve on the Governor’s Advisory Council of Townships in Minnesota. He was elected President of the Minnesota Water Well Association in 1980 and attended 59 years of conventions. Bill was also on the advisory board when the Minnesota Water Well Code was drawn up.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marion in 2019 with whom he shared 56 years of marriage; infant daughter, Kathleen; and granddaughter, Laura.

Bill is survived by sons, Kenneth and Donald (Tina); grandchildren, Marcus, Christopher, Austin, Madysen, Masen, and Amy; great-grandchildren Sawyer Rose, Jackson, and Hayden; and his dog, Sandy.

In lieu of flowers, the McKeever family would like donations to be made to Birch Grove Community School, Tofte Minnesota or Zoar Lutheran Church, Tofte Minnesota.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at Zoar Lutheran Church in Tofte.
