As a resident of South Shore Drive, I am appalled by Russell Klegstad’s response in last week’s paper to the driving habits of the residents who live in this area. I am a law-abiding citizen and when I see a speed limit sign, I follow it, especially in a construction zone!
All summer long while the workers were building this road, there was absolutely no way you could drive as fast as 35 mph or your car would have fallen apart!
My newborn baby and I have now been the lucky recipients of two flat tires in the past three weeks on this unfinished road. I assure you I wasn’t even driving 35 with my precious cargo onboard. One of the flats revealed a 2½-inch spear-shaped rock (shale) in it.
I contacted the county, and was told that it is not their problem and to contact the contractor KGM. I did that, and while KGM was helpful and said they’d contact the state about it, I still have the expense of two flat tires through no fault of my own.
I am insulted by the remarks of Klegstad and believe that he owes all the “locals” an apology for the thoughtless comments.
