Robert W. Merz,
98, of Roseville died on May 20, 2012.
Robert was born November 22, 1913 in Minneapolis. Robert was a 1935 University of Minnesota graduate and also received his masters from the U of M.
He worked for nearly 39 years with the U.S. Forest Service, living in northern Minnesota, Kansas, Ohio, Illinois and returning back to Minnesota in 1967 as assistant director of the North Central Forest Experiment Station.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Genevieve.
He is survived by children Judith Ann (George) Carter, James Robert (Jean) Merz and Jeanne (Robert) Coats; grandchildren Jeff (Lisa) Carter, Lori (Mitch) Hirt, Karin (Tom) Gonzales, Robert (Melissa) Merz, Katherine (Stuart) Nelson, Amy (Matt) Drohan and Jennifer (Bill) Sammon; 13 great-grandchildren and sister, Lorraine Waller. He is also survived by many other loving nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services are Saturday,
11:00 a.m., May 26, 2012 at Presbyterian Church of the Way (3382 N. Lexington Ave., Shoreview). Visitation one hour prior to the services at the church. Private interment Sunset Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Presbyterian Church of the Way or donor’s charity of choice.
