Robert Erwin Morris, of Duluth, Minnesota, passed away peacefully April 9, 2020 at age 84, after enduring Lewy Body Dementia.
Robert (Bob) was born March 20, 1936, the only child of Harold and Esther Morris of Grand Marais, Minnesotda, In 1942 the family moved to Duluth where Bob graduated from Duluth Central H.S. in 1954 and UMD in 1958 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, before serving in the Air National Guard.
Bob married Beverly Keeler in December of 1963, after working together to build the first level of their house in preparation for their marriage. This “hobby farm” in Gnesen Township is where they raised their five children while completing the construction of their home over the next many years. Bob was very active in his community and involved in many clubs, serving on the Gnesen Planning and Zoning, member of the Lake Head Harvest Reunion, Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA Chapter 272), and Lake Superior Metalsmiths. He also had a lumber sawing business he took over from his father in 1981, which included cutting survey and garden stakes. Bob retired from the Minnesota Department of Transportation after 28+ years in Design as a civil draftsman, drawing highways and making models.
Bob really enjoyed auctions, antiques, airplanes, reading, playing cribbage, traveling, and working with wood and metal. He could fix anything, taught anyone willing to learn, and helped everyone.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Beverly, and by his children: Ann (Tal) Lindblad, Holly (Karl) Folen, Joy (Gary) Duenwald, Melody Morris, Glenn (Deb) Morris, and seven grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents Harold and Esther Morris.
Bob was loved by all that knew him and will be deeply missed by family and friends. Thank you to the staff of Beehive Homes in Duluth for their care. Due to current health concerns of the nation, there will not be a public service and a private one will be held at a later date.
